Sanjaya Mohottala Assumes Duties as Director General of BOI

Mr. Sanjaya Mohottala assumed duties on Monday (02) as Director General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, the Investment Promotion Agency of the Government of Sri Lanka.

In his address to the senior staff Mr. Mohottala shared his vision for BOI, and how Sri Lanka’s position can be enhanced as an attractive investment destination. He also spoke of the need to grow the ICT/knowledge sector of the economy. This is in line with the aspirations of H E the President. A key element was also to develop a modern workforce capable of meeting the requirements of the global investor. Furthermore the new Director General stressed the importance of working with major State Owned Enterprise (SOEs) with a view of ensuring technology transfers and upskilling of our workforce happens .

He also shared some of his views on the way the BOI could operate more effectively by making the organization a true One Stop Shop. The focus would be to embrace digital technology and also strengthen work processes to ensure that the investor gets the best possible service from BOI

Mr. Sanjaya Mohottala was a Managing Director and Partner at the Boston Consulting Group.

He was responsible for corporate development, Principal investors & Private Equity practices and led the Transport and logistics practice across Asia Pacific

Mr. Mohottala holds a BSc from Moratuwa University, Sri Lanka and MBA from the Anderson School of Management of UCLA USA and is a Fulbright Scholar.
