The Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Board of Directors have been summoned before the COPE today (August 23). COPE Chairman MP Sunil Handunnetti said that they will be questioned with regard to recent irregularities at the CEB.
The committee is especially expected to raise questions regarding irregularities in the purchase of electricity. MP Sunil Handunnetti said that the Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Dr Suren Batagoda has also been informed to appear before the Commission today.
