Tip-off to Police prevents 8-year-old’s abduction

The Police states that the two suspects arrested on the charges of attempting to abduct a mother and her daughter, are currently being detained under orders and interrogated.

The Police reports indicate that the victims of the incident include an 8-year-old student of an International School in Nagoda and her mother. The father of the 8-year-old was reportedly a doctor serving at the Nagoda Hospital.

The Police revealed that the abduction has been attempted out of spite as the indicated child had won numerous certificates and gifts at the annual prize-giving held two years ago.

The suspects who had been plotting to demand a ransom of Rs.100mn were arrested in Kalutara according to a tip-off received by the Police on the 19th. The suspects have been identified to be residents of Dodangoda and Kalutara South, aged 40 and 25.
