The Outer Province Bakery Owners Association has decided not to increase the prices of bakery products

Considering the severe inconvenience faced by the people due to the pandemic situation in the country, the Outer Province Bakery Owners Association (OPBOA) has decided not to increase the prices of bakery products.

While addressing the media yesterday in Nikaweratiya, OPBOA convenor Gamini Kandegedara said All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association (ACBOA) had decided to increase the prices of bakery products from today.

Accordingly, the OPBOA has decided to increase the price of a loaf of bread by Rs. 5, the price of other bakery products by Rs. 10 and the price of 1 kg of cakes by Rs. 100. Therefore, the association urges all bakery owners in the country to refrain from increasing the prices of bakery products at this difficult times when people are experiencing severe hardships, Kandegedara said.

However, due to the increase in the price of raw materials, it is necessary to increase the price, but the association feels it is not the ideal time to do so, he said.
