Steps to reduce congestion prevalent at prisons

The Ministry of Justice, Human Rights, and Law Reforms has drawn its attention towards taking steps to reduce the congestion prevalent at prisons.

 

Secretary to the Ministry J.J. Ratnasiri said they would look into a mechanism where various organizations would step in to pay the fine which is imposed by courts on those found guilty of minor crimes, in order to reduce the congestion prevalent at prisons.
