Sri Lanka was the first country in the world which was able to recover fast after an IS terror attack, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said.
He expressed these views to the media after concluding the meeting held with Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa and several ministers and officials on the current economic situation in the country at the Temple Trees yesterday.
The Minister said he would make a special statement in Parliament on Thursday on the discussion held with the opposition and the measures that the government had taken to upgrade the economy in the country.
“We will provide relief to those affected, subsequent to the terrorist attacks, including pandal makers, virindu singers, artists and even for band teams,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said there was a move by some extremists in the country to have a ‘Black July’ again in Sri Lanka.
“When I told this to Mr. Rajapaksa, he also agreed on the statement made by me,” he added.
