Senior citizen under self quarantine dies in Kuliyapitiya

A man from Gaiyala in Kuliyapitiya under self-quarantine in his house had died this morning.

The 80-year-old deceased and the members of his family had been subject to self-quarantine when the bride in a wedding ceremony he had attended was tested CORONA positive.

His relatives said he had been suffering from other ailments as well due to his advanced age and had been under treatment. His condition had worsened last morning and died.

His body was transported under strict supervision of the health authorities including MOH Dr. Uthpala Sankalpa and Chairman of the Kuliyapitiya Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society- Yohan Nirosh to Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital mortuary by vehicle belonging to the funeral service of the Cooperative Society.

Dr. Sankalpa said immediate steps were taken to disinfect the vehicle and the driver. PHIs said specimens of the body had been referred to PCR tests and that the funeral would not be held pending PCR report.
