Sri Lanka Customs states that the scanners installed at the Colombo Port for the purpose of inspection of imported and exported goods have no effect on the human body. The Customs spokesperson, Additional Customs Director Sunil Jayaratne said the container drivers have been briefed on this along with the National Atomic Energy Board

He said that the scanners had been suspended recently due to a strike by container drivers citing several unfavourable health conditions. The spokesperson added the scanners will be used for the inspection of containers from the 1st of January.
