The Department of Railways decided to recommence freight trains. Railways General Manager Dilantha Fernando said 20 carriages have already been imported from India for this purpose and another 15 carriages are expected to reach the country next week from China.
The Department of Railways suspended the use of freight trains early this year citing several reasons. Railways General Manager Dilantha Fernando said coal for the Norochcholai Power-Plant and raw material for Prima Company continue to be transported by train.
