The public has been requested to maintain records of vehicles that they use to travel to ease contact tracing, officials said Wednesday.
“You can record the number plates of these vehicles,” army commander Shavendra Silva said as COVID-19 cases in the new cluster rose to 1591 in 10 days.
He also said that employers have been directed to conduct random PCR tests on their employees at least weekly.
Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 tally has risen up to 5038 since the virus started spreading in the country in March. Among them, 3328 have recovered.
