President grants service extension to commander of Sri Lanka Army

President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has granted a one year’s service extension, to Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake as the Commander of the Sri Lankan army.

According to the Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathne, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake was due to retire from his position on the 19th of this month. He was appointed as the 22nd Commander of the Sri Lanka Army on the 27th of June 2017.
