Postal strike ends after 48 hours

Post Master General, Ranjith Ariyaratne notes that they have resumed operational activities to distribute the backlog of letters that had piled up at the central mail exchange due to the postal strike.

He added that they were able to clear a considerable amount of letters through the night mail trains yesterday (July 18).

The 48 hour trade union action launched by postal workers at the central mail exchange, citing a number of demands, ended at 4pm yesterday.
