The prevailing showery condition is expected to continue, due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the Meteorology Department said.

Issuing an Advisory for Heavy Rain yesterday, the Department said that showers above 100 mm could be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

“Fairly heavy showers about 75 mm can be expected at some places elsewhere too. The public are urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers,” the Advisory added.
