Ministers observes renovation of old train compartments

The Department of Railway according to a decision taken by the Cabinet of Ministers has taken steps to renovate 200 abandoned compartments with all facilities which have been imported to the country in 1989 and 1992.

The renovations have been commenced by the Railway Department together a private company and several renovated compartments have already been added to the fleet.

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva observed the renovation activities at the factory site at Dematagoda yesterday (17th).

According to the Railway Department, the total cost for the project is Rs. 2.4 billion.
