While accusing Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa of getting Buddhist monks to criticize him, former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera yesterday demanded an investigation on his tenure as the Minister.
Former Minister in a twitter message said such an investigation will help people to decide if his record as the Minister of Finance is unblemished or not.
“Instead of getting robed men to sling mud at me on state media, PM as the present Minister of Finance must appoint an official inquiry into my tenure as MoF so that the people can decide if my record is unblemished or not,” he tweeted.
Mr Samaraweera had been blamed for allegedly making anti Buddhist statements by the pro government forces while some in the UNP had blamed him and MP Ranjan Ramanayake stating that their recent statements have caused the party to lose large number votes from the majority community at the last presidential election.
