Major General Ruwan Kulatunga appointed as the Chief of State Intelligence

Major General Ruwan Kulatunga has been appointed as the Chief of State Intelligence Service (SIS).

The Army media spokesperson’s office noted that the appointment was made this morning by the Defence Ministry based on instructions of the president.

Former Chief of State Intelligence Service, Sisira Mendis stepped down from his position due to health concerns. Major General Ruwan Kulathunga began his military career as as a cadet officer of the Army infantry in 1984.

Prior to his appointment as the Chief of State Intelligence Service, Ruwan Kulatunga served as the commander Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment and as the Commandant of The Defence Services Command and Staff Collage.
