Landslide warning for Badulla still in effect

The landslide warning issued to three Divisional Secretariat areas in the Badulla district, last evening, is still in effect.

The Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Center, Pradeep Koddipili said the landslide warning has been issued to the Haldamulla, Ella and Passara divisional secretariat areas.

Meanwhile, a bridge along the Dehiowita – Boralankada road was damaged due to heavy rains.

The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy said due to existing high winds, 70,000 consumers had to experience a power break down as trees damaged the power lines in the Kurunegala district.

Issuing a weather advisory, the Met Department said that showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 2:00 pm. Fairly heavy falls about 75-100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Southern provinces.

Light showers may occur in Eastern and Southern coastal areas in the morning too. Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces during the morning.
