The Elections Commission has instructed the Information Technology Society Sri Lanka (ITSSL) to monitor social media activity during the period of the upcoming Presidential election, following a meeting between Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya and ITSSL officials.
ITSSL announced that thousands of fake accounts have already been created targetting the upcoming elections, increasing the possibility of derogatory or offensive content being published online.
