President Gotabaya Rajapaksa says that he will establish a new government that can implement his policies.
Delivering his first speech as the President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that he is addressing the nation as the Executive President of Sri Lanka and the Defense Minister who will take on the responsibility of the security of the country.
President Rajapaksa thanked all those who voted for him at the Presidential Election and those who exercised their right to vote regardless of whom they voted for.
President Rajapaksa said: “I knew that the Presidential Election could be won only through Sinhala Buddhist votes. Previously, I made a special request to the Tamil and Muslim community to join in our victory. But the response was less than I expected. However, I, as your new President, invite you all again to work together with me for the future prosperity of the country as true Sri Lankans.”
