The Meteorological Department predicts showers or thundershowers with heavy rainfall of about 100 mm and lightning activities at some places in the Western, Central Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, North Central, and Northern provinces.
They request the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning. Further, they note that temporarily strong gusty winds up to 70-80 mph are also possible during thundershowers.
