Engaging parents to provide security to schools unnecessary – Education Ministry

There is no need to engage parents to provide security to schools as the police and the tri-forces are providing the necessary security, the Ministry of Education says.

The ministry has received information regarding incidents where the parents were inconvenienced when providing security for schools and that pregnant mothers were also seen in front of school gates for the security of the schools.

Many complaints have also been lodged that the parents were inconvenienced as several schools had mandated the students to bring see-through bags to schools.

The Education Ministry says that the aforementioned decision was taken as the tri-forces and the police have implemented security measures for schools.
