Authorities are continuing to battle the fire that erupted in the Ella rock area in Badulla yesterday. According to our reporter, the fire has now reached the Ravana Ella falls area and the 24th-kilometer post on the Ella – Wellawaya main road.

It was reported yesterday that authorities battling the fire are facing difficulties due to the location of the fire. The fire has also caused rocks to fall on to the Ella-Wellawaya main road which prompted police officers in the area to issue warnings to motorists using the road.

The fire which raged through a reserve in the Ella rock area since yesterday morning has been controlled to a certain extent, however, authorities fear that the forest fire could spread once again due to windy conditions in the area.
