Debate on President’s Policy Statement on the 10th of May

The Policy Statement made by President Maithripala Sirisena in Parliament at the Ceremonial Opening of the Second Session of the eighth Parliament on May 8, will be debated on May 10. Party Leaders who met at the Party Leaders’ Meeting in the Parliamentary complex yesterday decided to debate the address that would be delivered by President Maithripala Sirisena at the opening of the Second Session of the 8th Parliament on May 10 by way of Adjournment Debate.

The President would deliver the statement at 2.15 pm. The Adjournment Motion debate that is to commence in the morning on May 10 would last until 6.30 pm the same day. The demand to debate the President’s Policy Statement was made by Joint Opposition Parliamentary Group Leader Dinesh Gunawardena and the Party Leaders agreed accordingly.

The Party Leaders also decided to hold the sittings on May 9, 10 and 11. Debates on several acts is decided to be held on May 9 while the Audit Act debate will be taken on May 11.
