Cut-off marks for A/L candidates of 2018 released

The cut-off marks based on district levels for the students who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination 2018 has been released.

The University Grants Commission states that the candidates could log onto the WWW.SELECTION.UGC.AC.LK website and check the university and the corresponding course to which they have gained eligibility.  30,830 candidates who sat for the examination this year gained access to the university under the first shy while a total of 267,202 students sat for the examination.

The commission states that 167,992 candidates were marked eligible to enter the university with preliminary qualifications during the academic year of 2018-2019, while 31,158 students were proposed to enter the universities within the academic year. In comparison to the last year, 645 extra students gained eligibility to enter the universities. 17,979 students requested for admission in the Biology stream, with 12,995 students requesting for admission to Physics, 11,399 through the Commerce stream and 25,629 students requesting for admission through the Arts stream.

Further, the commission states that 3,937 have requested for admission to the Engineering stream, 3380 under the Microbiology stream and 1240 to various other streams.
