Association of Sri Lanka has issued a media release regarding the shooting incident reported yesterday (November 6). The media release says the executive committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka is deeply concerned about the media reports relating to the incident.
The BASL says, by and large, the pre-run to the Presidential Election has been peaceful and violence cannot be condoned in any way.
The BASL requests the IGP and the other authorities including the Election Commission to take immediate appropriate action to investigate this incident and all other pending election violence complaints and report matters to court on an urgent basis.
It also urges all political parties to educate their members and followers to refrain from resorting to such acts.
