Another group of Sri Lankans repatriated from UK

Another batch of Sri Lankans who were repatriated from the United Kingdom has arrived on the island early this morning (06).

The special flight (UL504) chartered by the national carrier, SriLankan Airlines touched down at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at around 3.05 am, according to siyatha news correspondent.

It had left the Heathrow Airport in London, carrying a group of 194 Sri Lankans.

The repatriated Sri Lankans have been moved to quarantine centres by Air Force personnel.

In the meantime, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has stated that another group of Sri Lankans living overseas are to be brought back to the island today.

Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has meanwhile commented that restoring normalcy of operations at the Katunayake Airport will take at least few more months. He has said necessary measures in this regard will be taken while heeding the spread of Covid-19 virus in the country.
