6000 acres of farmlands destroyed by dry weather

Several villages in the Moneragala Siyambalanduwa Divisional Secretariat have been severely affected by the drought.

cultivations in Ettimale, Wattaarama, Kotiyagala, Kumbukeyaya, and Moneragala have been destroyed due to the prevailing drought. It was reported that nearly 6,000 acres have been destroyed due to the dry weather.

Residents in the area noted that several small tanks such as Wattarama Wewa, Hikkaduwa Wewa, Athimale Wewa, Thora-atupitiya Wewa, Moneragalalaya Wewa and Kotiyagala Wewa have dried up.
