The National Elections Commission states that 5000 new ballot boxes are being prepared in line with the upcoming Presidential elections due to the 26-inch long ballot paper this time.
The decision to prepare more ballot boxes has been taken since the number of ballot papers that could be put into one box will be limited.
The Commissioner-General Saman Sri Ratnayake said that the boxes will be prepared locally according to eco-friendly methods.
