400MW for national power grid from floating power barges

The Ceylon Electricity Board is planning to add 400 MW of power to the national grid using 2 floating barge power plants.

Media spokesperson for the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Sulakshana Jayawardena said Cabinet approval has been granted to purchase the power from the private sector.

He said 182mw of power has so far been purchased from the private sector in order to resolve the prevailing power crisis.
