Sorting of letters and parcels piled up at the Department of Posts will commence today.

Postmaster General, Ranjith Ariyaratne speaking to media said the sorting of mail will take place at the Central Mail Exchange and Regional Mail Exchanges.

It is reported over 300,000 letters and parcels are piled up at the Department of Posts and the sorting process will take place with the use of a skeleton staff and the mail will be dispatched to post offices using the vehicles owned by the Department of Posts.

The Post Master General said the distribution of mail will commence on Tuesday.

He added, there will be no interruption in distributing medicine to patients.
