12 imported cases among Covid-19 patients confirmed yesterday

COVID-19 infections detected in Sri Lanka hit 1,857 on Monday (08) as 22 more persons tested positive for the virus.

The Department of Government Information said 12 out of yesterday’s count were imported cases – 08 returnees from Kuwait at the Minneriya quarantine centre and 04 returnees from Chennai, India at Katukeliyawa quarantine centre.

The remaining 10 virus-positive cases have been identified from Sri Lanka Navy – 07 of them are undergoing quarantine procedure at the facility in Iyakachchi and the other 03 are at the Dhamminna quarantine centre.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 990 virus-infected patients have already made complete recoveries.

This brings the number of active cases under medical care to 856.

In the meantime, Sri Lanka has thus far confirmed 11 deaths due to the novel coronavirus.
