Heavy rains over 100mm could be expected today in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces after 2.00 pm, the Meteorology Department said.
They said showers could be expected in the coastal areas of the Northern, Eastern, and Southern provinces during the morning.
There could be light showers over the island during the afternoon or at night, the department said.
However, misty conditions could be seen blanketing the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Central provinces as well as in Galle and Matara districts, during the morning.
