We had earlier reported that Bollywood actress Aishwarya rai bachchan has been ropedn in the star-studded cast of Mani Ratnam’s film adaptation of the classic period novel, ponniyin selvan. While there weren’t any official confirmation about the same so far, the latest is that Aishwarya herself confirmed the speculative report at the Cannes 2019.
In an interaction after walking the red carpet at the Cannes 2019, she said that even though Mani ratnam hasn’t formally announced it himself but the word is out. Aishwarya committed to the fact that she is working with him. She added that she will always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with her guru, Mani.
Reportedly the story of the film takes place in the 10th century before Raja Chola became a king. Aishwarya will be seen as Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, who served as the chancellor and treasurer of the Chola kingdom.
The star cast is said to include Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Keerthy Suresh, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Mohan Babu. Vikram will reportedly play Aditya Karikalan while Karthi will essay Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Jayam Ravi will portray Raja Raja Chola I, Keerthy Suresh will star as Kundavai and Mohan Babu will reportedly set into the shoes of Periya Pazhuvettarayar.
To be bankrolled by Lyca Productions on a massive budget, the film has been embarked for the project of which a major part will be utilised for VFX. The prep work for this film is currently on and it is expected to go on the floors soon.
