Commenting on Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardana’s remarks that elections have been held even when people died from dengue, star Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara asked, “Not the most enlightened comment, is it?” At the Cabinet press briefing yesterday, Minister Gunawardana said the elections were held during the previous governments times when people were dying from dengue.
He said this in response to a question asked on holding the general election during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the news was shared on twitter, Sangakkara responded, “Not the most enlightened comment, is it?”
