Minister Rajitha to appear before PCoI

Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senaratne has been summoned to the Presidential Commission to investigate corruption in the government during the last four years. A spokesman for the ministry stated the minister has been asked to appear before the Commission at 9:00 am today (September 24).

The Minister has been summoned to the Commission to give evidence in connection with a complaint that the Neville Fernando Hospital in Malabe is spending government money without it being formally taken over by the government.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne was due to appear before the Commission on 19th of this month and he did not appear before the Commission stating that he has to attend several parliamentary sittings on that day. The complaint has been lodged by the GMOA Secretary Dr Haritha Aluthge.

Meanwhile, Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella and his daughter have been summoned to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry today. This was to give evidence of the complaint made by the Highway Ministry during the tenure of Mr Lakshman Kiriella as the Minister of Highways.
