Cabinet nod to extend concessionary loan facilities under the ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ Programme

Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera has proposed to extend the benefits of the concessionary loan schemes under the ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ Programme to include several other groups.Accordingly, the cabinet of ministers has approved Minister Samaraweera’s proposal to extend benefits to enable those who are engaged in the technical field, the professionals who hold the certificate of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 5, 6 and 7, those who are engaged in small scale animal husbandry sector, those who manufacture packing material using bio degradable items and to those who seek investments to set up Day Care Centers.

The Minister has also received cabinet approval to implement a new concessionary loan scheme to provide concessions for the Product Design Engineering Companies which initiate Mechatronics enabled Economic Development.

The Cabinet has previously granted approval to explore the possibility of providing long term loan facilities with concessionary terms for the Product Design Engineering Companies (PDEC) to design the products locally and internationally, prototyping and commercializing through the loan schemes which are being implemented under the ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka Programme’ and to pursue action accordingly.
