The Department of Meteorology has issued an announcement saying that after 2.00 pm there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms in many parts of the island.
It is also stated in the announcement that some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Weste and North-Weste provinces and Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 75 mm.
Galle and Matara districts may also experience rain in the mo ing.
People are kindly requested to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
