Three persons have been arrested by the Karainagar Police for allegedly assaulting a Public Health Inspector (PHI) and a Laboratory Technician after they had warned a group of people for organising a wedding in the Karainagar area in Jaffna violating the Quarantine Curfew in force.
All weddings and functions were prohibited with effect from midnight on Tuesday, August 17, until further notice by the Government due to the COVID-19 situation.
The two officers were allegedly assaulted by a group of youth when they visited a location in the Karainagar area where a wedding was being organised. The youth had also damaged several other equipment including PCR test kits taken by the health officials. The Karainagar Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the incident.
