Minister Mahindananda is permitted to travel overseas

The Permanent High Court trial-at-Bar today permitted Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage to travel overseas, until July 31.

Minister Aluthgamage through his lawyers requested the court that his client be permitted to travel to Italy to attend a seminar organised by World Food Programme, to be represented as the Minister of Agriculture.

The Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption had filed indictments against Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and former Sathosa Chairman Nalin Fernando for allegedly committing an Rs. 53.1 million fraud while importing sports equipment during the 2015 Presidential Election.
