Addressing the media in Colombo, the minister said two special centres have been established in each district for COVID -19 infected candidates.

He said in the Colombo District authorities are considering having more than two centres for COVID-19 positive candidates.

The Minister said Principals and Public Health Officers in consultation with MOH officials have launched a comprehensive programme to ensure that the health requirements of these children are met.

The total number of candidates sitting for the exam is 622,305. There are 4,513 Examination Centres and 542 Coordinating Centres.

Minister Prof. Peiris said examination admission papers have been posted and private applicants who have not received their admissions can download it from the web.

He said for the first time, provision for correcting details related to the name, subject or examination medium through the web has been allowed.

The Minister said education authorities hope to commence A/L classes in July.
