Army Donated 10 Million for the ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff , Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak donated 10 Million rupees for the ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’ by representing Sri Lanka Army at the ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’ launching ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Chief Guest and Hon. Prime Minister and the Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, at the Sri Sambodhi Viharaya in Colombo.

Deegawapiya as one of the Solosmasthana, renovation was inaugurated with the establishment of ‘Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force’ by His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. The renovation of the pagoda was started with the commitments of Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Police Department and Civil Security Department.

Lalith Weerathunga ,Principal Advisor to the President, Mrs Anuradha Yahampath, Governor for Eastern Province, Hon Sarath Weerasekara, Minister of Public Security, Hon Vidura Wickramanayake, State Minister of Heritage & Performing Arts, Mr Gamini Sedara Senarath, Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) Chairperson of ‘Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force’ (PTF) for Eastern Province ,Secretary to the Prime Minister, Secretary of the Ministry Buddhist affairs Mr Kapila Gunawardena, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force, Inspector General of Police, Director General Civil Security Department, Mr Aruna Manathunga, Director General Archeology Department and a gathering of invitees were there at the launching ceremony of the ‘Deegawapiya Trust Fund’.
