2021 Budget passed in parliament with majority

The vote on the Committee Stage Debate of the 2021 Budget was PASSED in parliament today with a majority of 97 votes.

In total, 151 votes were cast in favour, while 54 votes were cast against.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa presented the budget to Parliament on the 17th of November and the second reading of the budget was held from the 18th of November onwards.

The Committee Stage Debate on the Budget began on Monday, the 23rd of November.
