Intermittent showers, strong wind and rough seas expected

A low pressure area has formed over southeast Bay of Bengal(2N-10N,83E-93E) and it is expected to intensify further into a depression during next 24-48 hours. It is likely to move west-northwestwards towards Eastern and Northern coast of Srilanka on 24th of November.

Showers or thundershowers will ocuur at times in Eastern, Northern,Northen-central and Uva provinces and in Hambanthota district.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at few places in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kaluthara, Galle and Mathara districts after 2.00 p.m.

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected at some places in the above area.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
