Badulla District MP A. Aravindh Kumar representing the Tamil Progressive Alliance has been suspended from the TPA with immediate effect, said party leader Mano Ganesan on Friday (23).
The decision to suspend MP A. Aravindh Kumar was made as he voted in favor of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution in Parliament on Thursday (22).
MP Mano Ganesan said the TPA Parliamentary Group which met on Friday (23) morning unanimously approved the decision and it was forwarded to the Polit-Buro of the TPA which will meet in due course and permanently remove A. Aravindh Kumar from the party.
He said the Up-Country People’s Front, a partner-party of the TPA, of which A. Aravindh Kumar belongs to would meet on Monday (26) to take appropriate action against him, which would include legal action, said Mano Ganesan.
He said the conduct of A. Aravindh Kumar clearly violated the Polit-Buro decision of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, which instructed all MPs to vote against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
