Sri Lanka’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturing and research facility declared open

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today declared open Sri Lanka’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturing and research facility at Pitipana, Homagama.

J L Morison Son & Jones (Ceylon) PLC, the largest pharmaceutical manufacturer in Sri Lanka, has invested the funds for the new Research and Manufacturing facility.

The foundation stone for the facility was laid on 15th of June in 2017 in the presence of top management officials.

The plant, located within the Sri Lanka Institute of Nano Technology (SLINTEC) Park in Homagama, is the first European Union Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant facility in the country.

The facility expects to create employment for over 200 skilled and semi-skilled persons.

It was built with the intention of enhancing the use of new technology in the industry and facilitate a modern and technologically-advanced workplace for the employees.

The establishment is focused on increasing the availability of a wider range of high quality, efficacious pharmaceuticals in the country.
