People requested to bring a pen when visiting post offices

Post offices island-wide will open on Monday the 04th of May for official purposes.

“It is mandatory to bring a pen when coming to the post office to sign relevant papers,” said Ranjith Ariyaratne, the Post Master General on Thursday (30th April).

Once post offices open on the 4th of May, payment of public assistance funds, senior citizens’ allowance payments, pension payments will be carried out through post offices.

“All those who will visit the post office to obtain these allowances and payments are requested to bring a pen, and we will not provide a pen from the Post Office, as there are risks associated with using the same pen,” said Ariyaratne.

Ariyaratne further said, “Earlier the post offices used only one document to get signatures from the people, but we have arranged for separate forms to get the signatures of the people.”

It was also emphasized that people should follow health guidelines, maintain the 1m distance when visiting the post office.
