Sri Lanka’s railways department has informed commuters to adhere to health guidelines while travelling by train, as the country continues to battle COVID-19.

The department, in a circular, requested companies attached to the essential service industries to provide details of employees who would be requiring the service.

These details would be given to the health authorities or security forces in case of an emergency, railways general manager Dilantha Fernando explained.

The railways department has beefed up security and health measures since it resumed operations this Monday after curfews were lifted in several areas.
