US donates USD 1.3 million to Sri Lanka

The US has donated 1.3 million dollars to Sri Lanka to curb the spread of COVID – 19 and to help protect healthcare workers.

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alaina B. Teplitz on Thursday said in a statement that the donation reflects the “enduring relationship” between the two countries even at a time of a pandemic.

“Through even the most difficult times, Americans and Sri Lankans support one another as partners and friends,” the statement read.

The US will assist Sri Lanka in preparing laboratory systems for large scale COVID – 19 testing and to identify other additional priority areas for assistance, the US Embassy in Colombo said.
