Political Parties expecting to contest the General Elections will meet with the National Elections Commission at 03:30 this afternoon.
The NEC said it informed political parties to send either the General Secretary or a representative to attend this important meeting. A source from the National Elections Commission said the meeting will be on the acceptance of nominations for the General Election and other related matters.
The National Elections Commission is in the process of gathering information on state vehicles required for official General Election Duty. The NEC said it sought information at Ministerial Level adding if state vehicles are insufficient, steps would be taken to source vehicles from the private sectors. In addition, a survey will be carried out to source vehicles at the district level for election-related matters.
The National Elections Commission said vehicles will be sourced privately in addition from the state for election-related matters in the Ampara , Kegalla and Hambantota Districts.
