Teachers and Principals across the country are expected to call in sick today inline with a coordinated trade union action orchestrated by the Principals and Teachers Trade union.

General Secretary of the Ceylon Teacher’s Union, Joseph Stalin said more than 30 trade unions will join the move, citing several demands including a demand for an interim salary allowance to be provided.

However, speaking to media, Secretary to the Ministry of Education M.H.M. Chitrananda said the demands would be considered following the presentation of the next budget by the Government.
